The Divine Union:
In Genesis 2:23-25, we find the account of the creation of Eve, the first woman, as a companion and helper suitable for Adam, the first man. Adam's profound response upon seeing Eve for the first time is a poetic proclamation of the divine intention behind marriage: "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man" (Genesis 2:23, NIV).
This passage emphasizes the deep connection and unity between husband and wife. It establishes the foundation of marriage as a God-ordained union where two individuals become one flesh.
It describes the creation of Eve from Adam’s rib, as a suitable helper and companion for him. This shows that God intended for men and women to be equal partners in marriage, sharing the same nature and dignity.
Adam’s poetic response expresses his joy and delight in seeing Eve for the first time. He recognizes her as his counterpart, his very own self, and his flesh and bone. This implies a close and intimate relationship between husband and wife, as well as a sense of belonging and identity
