DAILY BREAD: July 21, 2025 / Matthew 5:5 - The Strength of Meekness

 Hello, dear readers!

Today, let us reflect on a character trait that is often misunderstood, yet highly valued in the Kingdom of God—Meekness. In a world that praises boldness, dominance, and loud personalities, meekness is often mistaken as weakness. But the Bible teaches us that meekness is not about being passive or powerless—it is strength under control, a spirit led by humility and anchored in Christ.

As a blogger and preacher of God’s Word, I believe that embracing meekness is one of the keys to living a life that truly reflects Jesus.

📖 What Does the Bible Say About Meekness?

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”Matthew 5:5

This powerful promise from Jesus Himself shows us that meekness is not overlooked in heaven. It is honored. While the proud seek to conquer, the meek are quietly entrusted with true inheritance—not just in this life, but in eternity.

💡 Three Biblical Lessons About Meekness

1. Meekness is a Fruit of the Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness [meekness], and self-control.”Galatians 5:22–23

Meekness isn’t something we create on our own—it’s the result of the Holy Spirit working in us. A meek person doesn’t seek to prove themselves right, but seeks to be right with God.

2. Jesus is Our Model of Meekness

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”Matthew 11:29

Jesus, the King of kings, came with gentleness—not force. He had the power to call angels, yet chose to serve, forgive, and endure suffering in love. Meekness is Christlikeness in action.

3. Meekness Wins Over Harshness

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”Proverbs 15:1

In difficult conversations or confrontations, meekness is not silence—it’s the calm and Spirit-led response that diffuses conflict and reflects wisdom. Meekness wins battles not by shouting, but by shining God’s light.

🔍 A Challenge to Reflect

  • Do you respond to criticism and conflict with meekness—or with pride and defense?

  • Are you willing to be wronged without seeking revenge?

  • Can you show strength by choosing gentleness?

Meekness doesn’t mean you let people walk all over you. It means you walk in the Spirit, not in the flesh. True strength isn’t loud—it’s controlled, humble, and deeply rooted in God.

💬 Your Thoughts Matter!

Have you experienced the power of meekness in your own life? Or is it something you’re asking God to develop in you?

🙏 May the Lord fill us with His Spirit, that we may clothe ourselves in meekness and reflect the heart of Christ in all we do.
